Are penguins gay?
No they are not. Animals do not have sex outside of attempts to produce offspring therefore cannot be homosexual. It is not uncommon any any bird species for 2 members of the same gender to form a pair bond when an appropriate mate of the opposite gender is lacking. Likely in this case there were no more available females so the males formed a pair bond. It is also not uncommon for penguins to adopt and foster eggs or even hatched chicks even in the wild. In the wild penguins that have lost their chicks will fight to foster a parent-less chick often unfortunately resulting in the chick being trampled in the melee. Males with no egg or whose egg has been lost will also occasionally try to take eggs from other penguins. It is not uncommon any any bird species for same sex bonded pairs to care for chicks.
