Do gravitons exist?
Question: Isnt it true that we still don’t know for sure if gravitons exist? It’s just the best explanation we have but in reality we don’t know what gravity is? Right ? Answer: Hi Brad, Yes, that is true. There is no experimental evidence for gravitons (yet). Gravitons are the “force carrier” of gravity, which is analogous to the “photon” being the force carrier of the electromagnetic force. Clearly the photon is on solid experimental ground. As of yet though, there is no successful quantum theory of gravity, which would be described by interactions involving spin-2 gravitons. Our best theory of gravity is general relativity, which is at odds with quantum theory, so a deeper theory is needed. People are working hard on trying to come up with such a theory.
