AEDs allow lay persons to provide that lifesaving electricity to a victim of sudden cardiac arrest as soon as is possible. For every minute a victim must wait for help, their chance of survival decreases nearly 10%. The average response time for EMS is around 8 minutes. By that time, the arrest victim’s chances for survival have dropped significantly.
