Do participants in the RIU ICF have to link with RNRRS teams involved with previous DFID projects in order to apply and are only RNRRS outputs eligible for scaling out?
A. The Research into Use (RIU) programme aims to maximise the poverty-reducing impact of the DFID-funded natural resources research produced under the Renewable Natural Resources Research Strategy (RNRRS) in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Research findings from any organization / institution are eligible to apply for the Innovation Challenge Fund. However, we do ask that your proposals take into account the RNRRS projects that DFID funded between 1994 and 2005, and work on up and out scaling them. We are not making it obligatory that you have formal links / partnerships with the original research teams that have received funding from DFID. The decision as to whether contact is made will be left in the hands of those putting forward concept notes.
