What is the difference between “Pointing My Domain” & “Redirecting My Domain” to Wix?

Often, the place where we buy our domain names (URLs) is NOT the same place as where we design and store our website (such as Wix.com). Currently, Wix does not offer domain name hosting. Thus, to Connect Your Domain to your Wix site, you must “point your domain” to the Wix Server. You can find out how to point your domain name to your Wix site here . Domain pointing is one method to link your domain to your website on Wix.com. It means that your domain name stays hosted at the place you purchased it from, such as Domain Registrar’s like GoDaddy & Enom. Your domain host then “points” your domain name to the Wix server that host’s your website. Redirecting your domain, also know as domain forwarding or domain transfer, would mean that you transfer the domain name from your current registrar to another one. For example, Wix would take over hosting your domain name as well as your website. Wix does not offer this service.
