How are LUCs funded?
A5: Congress has passed the responsibility for environmental restoration activities at Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) to the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (COE). That responsibility includes execution, long term monitoring, and long term maintenance of any selected remedy. When LUCs are part of a selected remedy at a FUDS site, the responsibility for maintenance of that LUC currently falls to the Corps of Engineers.
