How does Hebrew work?
Hebrew is read from right to left. Each character represents a sound. They don’t have vowels as such; some characters make a combination consonant/ vowel sound. Interestingly they use regular numbers, which are read from left to right. Even more interesting is that our numbers come from Arabic, which is another language that is read from right to left! Is everything in Jerusalem made of stone? Apparently it’s a city ordinance that all buildings need to be made of stone, or at least have a stone facade. There were a number of 20-or-so story buildings in the New City and they all had stone on the outside.
