There are almost as many answers as there are modelers, as you’ll note from the comments below. A popular choice is PVA resin glue, also called white glue. This is sold under various trade names: Elmer’s Glue-All in the USA; Evostik Resin W in the UK; Aquadhere in Australia. Technically, most white glues are a suspension of polyvinyl acetate (PVA) resin in water. There are some variations. I think most so-called tacky glues are also a PVA glue, but thicker. from Stephen Brown : I now use Elmer’s Glue-All (a PVA glue, i.e. a latex resin dispersed in water, commonly called white glue) for almost all of it–I don’t have a problem with tack, but I sometimes have trouble with it drying too quickly. I started using Duco, because that was recommended for some White Wings planes I built some years ago. Duco, however, has no tack and dries very quickly. I tried Sobo, which worked well but didn’t dry quite clear. I’ve also used tacky glue (get it at craft or fabric stores)
