What are lyric poets?
Lyric poets are those who write short, emotional poems that are often (but not necessarily) accompanied by music. Lyric poetry relies greatly on meter, such as in sonnets, ballades, and villanelles. Examples of lyrics poets throughout history include Sappho, Petrarch, Horace, Ovid, Spenser, Shakespeare, Donne, Behn, Wordsworth, Colerige, Keats, Tennyson, etc.
