Do railroad ties harm vegetables?

0

Railroad ties are usually treated with chemicals to prevent rotting. Depending on what chemicals were used it could hurt the plants themselves, or leech into the soil where your veggies will soak up the chemicals, adding them to you vegetables. My rule is, if the wod smells strongly of chemicals I wouldn’t want it in my veggie garden. I wouldn’t use railroad ties right next to veggies anyway, I would get plastic wood, bricks, or cinderblock.
