Who is Phil Grainger?
Phil is an entertainer by profession, doing magic shows, discos, storytelling, live music and theatre. “I really enjoy them all, and feel very proud and lucky to be making my living out of them,” he says. “Alight is the biggest-scale event I’ve ever organised; it’s taken just over three months. However it’s been a mad time because, in the run-up, I’ve also been rehearsing a play at Hustwaite, When We Are Married, which is on at the end of September, and I’ve been doing magic and discos throughout each month, to keep the money coming in, and preparing for auditions for the next big Easingwold Players’ production, ’Allo ’Allo!.” Phil has performed in plays since his upper secondary school days at Easingwold School. “I was invited to join the Easingwold Players and haven’t missed a show since,” he says. “I go to the Edinburgh Fringe each year, this year just a short visit to watch and help out with distributing flyers.
