A. It’s so easy to avoid a fee and receive extra rewards. For Choice Checking, a combined qualifying deposit and loan balance of $1,000 or having direct deposit and receiving online statements earns you no-fee rewards. But, if you have below the minimum combined deposit and loan balance and do not have the preferred services, SECU will charge you a $6 fee. For Premier Checking, you’ll receive even more no-fee rewards by having at least $10,000 in combined qualifying deposit and loan balances or by having direct deposit, receiving online statements, and by using online Bill Pay. But, if you fall below the minimum combined deposit and loan balance and do not have the preferred services, SECU will charge you an $8 fee. There is no fee for college students (up to age 26) with Students’ Choice Checking.
