Who makes the best “King Cake”?
DO NOT USE NONNA RANDAZZO’S IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR CAKE SHIPPED! I did a search to find the “best king cake” and settled on Nonna Randazzo’s Bakery in Covington. I wanted to bring the joy of Mardi Gras to the poor souls of the Northeast who had not had the wonder of carnival. I ordered early, in Jan, because I ABSOLUTELY needed a Monday 2/23/09 delivery in order to bring the cake into work on Mardi Gras day. I was assured the cake would ship on Sat and arrive Mon. I paid $116 for two large cakes with a delivery date of Monday 2/23. They did not arrive on Monday. When I called, they nonchalantly said if they didn’t arrive Monday, they would arrive Tuesday. I was devastated, because now there was no way I could have the cake to work on Mardi Gras day. There was a party planned around this cake. The cake arrived at my apartment at 2:50 PM on Monday.
