What is the DAT?

The Dental Admission Test is the “SAT” for dental school. As detailed on the “DAT website” (see Useful Web Links), the DAT consists of four examinations – Survey of Natural Sciences (Biology, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry), Perceptual Ability, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning. DAT scores are reported as standard scores scaled from 1 – 30 for each exam. A composite or total score is not calculated; instead, each section is considered separately, and a score of 17 on each section typically signifies average performance on a national basis.
