What are the dangers of hoarding?
There are many dangers associated with moderate to severe hoarding. Fire is a real concern and actually claims the lives of dozens of hoarders each year. Air quality in some hoarders homes can be affected severely and can cause hospitalization and even death. Mold is often found in hoarders homes which can also cause respiratory problems especially in the elderly and those with compromised health. A simple trip and fall can result in fractures especially in the elderly. Rodents and insects often live in hoarders homes and can be the cause of a number of illnesses.
