Who may join SOAR?
A. In general, membership in SOAR is open to those physically, sexually, and/or emotionally abused by members of any religious organization as well as supporters of those abused, such as parents and partners. SOAR is inclusive and so there are no hard and fast rules as to who is welcome. However, SOAR is not open to those who are abusers. The SOAR email list absolutely does not accept anyone who is presently abusing a child, a spouse, or any other person. This policy is absolute without regard to whether the abuser is “trying to change”.
