Do Interns have to pay taxes?
Interns on the Exchange Visitor Visa are not subject to Social Security or Unemployment withholdings, but they are subject to state and local income taxes. According to the Employers Tax Guide, an additional amount should be withheld when completing the Employees Withholding Allowance Certificate (amount varies depending on pay period and pay frequencies).
