Below are two methods for installing Emacs. If the instructions below seem a bit confusing, Charles Curley has also written a tutorial on installing Emacs that you might find useful. Precompiled distribution Preferred method: Let’s assume that the directory in which you have unpacked Emacs is c:\emacs (note that it can be anything you want it to be; I just want to be able to refer to something concrete at this point). First, you will want to run the program bin\addpm.exe with the Emacs directory as an argument.
