What is an Inventory of Furnishings?
An Inventory of Furnishings is a form similar to that of an inspection report but sets out the condition of all the furnishings only. The form must be provided with the Statement of Tenancy Terms. The form should be checked, agreed and signed by the landlord and the tenant and a copy given to the tenant free of charge. Any existing damage should be clearly noted. You may wish to take photographs of valuable items. A proper inventory can help avoid disputes, particularly those involving the return of deposits at the end of the tenancy.
