A pediatrician is a physician that specializes in the branch of medicine that deals with the development, care, and diseases of children, usually classified as those under the age of 18. Because of the complexity of the body, some pediatricians also have a specialty interest (sub-specialty) and focus their practice on certain body systems such as the digestive system or cardiovascular system.
