An Allergist/Immunologist is an MD who has received a specialist certificate from the American Board of Allergy & Immunology. An allergist, or immunologist, manages patients in a state of hypersensitivity induced by exposure to a particular antigen (allergen). An allergist/immunologist deals with the treatment of allergic disease and those disease processes that involve dysfunction of the immune system.
