Are GIs just place names?
A GI can be a geographic place name (e.g., “Napa Valley”) but it may also be a symbol (e.g., a picture of the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, an orange tree), or the outline of a geographic area (e.g., the outline of the state of Florida or a map of the Dominican Republic), a color, or anything else capable of identifying the source of a good or service.
