What is the Book Rights Registry?
The Registry will be a not-for-profit entity that represents the interests of Rightsholders in connection with this Settlement with Google as well as potential licensing deals with other entities, subject to Rightsholders’ authorization. The Registry will have equal representation of the Author Sub-Class and Publisher Sub-Class on its Board of Directors. There will be at least four Directors from each Sub-Class.
The Registry will be a not-for-profit entity that represents the interests of Rightsholders in connection with this Amended Settlement with Google as well as potential licensing deals with other entities, subject to Rightsholders’ authorization. The Registry will have equal representation of the Author Sub-Class and Publisher Sub-Class on its Board of Directors, and will include at least one author and publisher representative from each of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. The Registry will also delegate to an independent fiduciary responsibility for the exploitation of unclaimed Books and Inserts under the settlement.
