How is an Absolute Monarchy set up?
Generally there has not been a completely absolute monarch in Europe for a thousand years (like ancient monarchs in china). Even Henry VIII, couldn’t just kill people, but his courts had to bring charges against the individual and execute them. It’s a small distinction since the courts basically did not go against the will of the monarch. ————— Shakespeare wrote a lot about monarchs wrestling with their conscience and with a higher power. Henry V in particular has long passages where he worries that if his war is unjust then he will be greated in heaven by all the souls of the soldiers who died in that war. ————– Kings also still needed money. They needed parliament to collect taxes. ———— Denmark has an “elective” monarchy where the sovereign was elected by a small group of people. Eligible members were from the royal family. However, the first son was always elected. In 1660 it was changed to an “absolute” monarchy, so there were no more elections. It was ch
