Why does a piano need regular tuning?

0

The steel strings in a modern piano are constantly under a great deal of tension when tuned to Concert Pitch. With regular playing, or if the instrument is moved, or the temperature/atmosphere of the room where the piano is located is not constant, this may cause the strings to slacken very slightly, and hence usually drop slightly in pitch.
