How Does a Venus Fly Trap Work?
If a Venus Fly Trap is successful in capturing an insect, it will go into the sealing phase. Once the trap has sealed, it will begin the digestion process, which can take up to 2 weeks. During this time, the trap will secrete digestive enzymes into the sealed trap which will break down the soft parts of the insect (its insides), which will then be absorbed by the trap.
