We use flat or round-wire brushes on fiberglass poles to sweep the flue. We then come into the house and brush the firebox and chamber above the damper with a hand-held “scout brush”. The firebox opening is sealed off as needed before the sweep is performed. Drop clothes are laid down in front of the fireplace/woodstove. Soot is vacuumed out of a chamber that is behind and below the damper as needed. A written 29-point safety inspection is submitted upon completion. This form is useful for insurance purposes.
