What to write in wedding vows?
Your vows are the promises you make to each other about your commitment to each other and how you are going to treat each other. So while you should include expressions of love (the why) and the fact that you take the other person as your husband/wife (the what) you should also include the when (from this day forward, for as long as be both shall live), and particularly the how (that’s the promises you make about honoring each other, cherishing each other (the visible behaviors that loving people show to each other) being faithful, sticking with each other through all the highs and lows of life, Make them short and sweet, and think of how relevant they will be in 50 years time (saying you’ll let each other have the remote or other “funny” promises won’t stand the test of time. In 50 years time your grand kids mightn’t even know what a remote is!) And don’t include “in jokes” – your vows should be clearly understood by everyone present.
