Is going for a boat ride dangerous? Since we have no idea what exactly you mean by “deep sea fishing” it’s tough to answer. First of all, most “deep sea” fising doesn’t happen in the deep sea. Most occurs over continental shelves in water 100 feet deep. of less. Most deep sea fishing is conducted from “party boats” or “head boats”, some of which hold dozens of persons. In the US, these boats must pass Coast Guard inspection and carry proper safety equipment and be operated by trained captain and crew. Some “deep sea” fishing is conducted on “Charter” boats, where a small group of people hire the boat for a fishing trip. Some of these tend to find deeper waters, such as ocean canyons, and often seek out larger fish, often sport fish, like marlins. Again, in the US, the boats are regulated by Coast Guard rules. Now, you can always rent a boat, or go with a friend who has a boat and go “deep sea” fishing. Again, private pleasure boats are required to carry safety equipment in the US, and
