What is GCSE in Applied ICT (Double Award)?
This is a new qualification. These new vocational GCSEs have been designed to: • replace Part One GNVQs • provide an introduction to a broad vocational area • enable progression to further education, training and employment • be available at key stage 4 and post-16. The GCSE in Applied ICT (Double Award) consists of three compulsory and normally equally weighted units. The regulatory authorities, in consultation with national training organisations (NTOs), subject associations and other interested parties developed the subject criteria. Assessment and awarding arrangements are governed by these national subject criteria which apply across all awarding bodies. The qualification content is the same across awarding bodies. However, the awarding bodies have used the subject criteria to develop their own individual approaches to internal and external assessment, and guidance on delivery and assessment. This qualification is: • equivalent to two GCSEs (or a Part One GNVQ); • graded AA to GG
