Am i going to regain the weight?
The patient needs to recognize that obesity is a chronic disorder that requires long-term care. By accepting this fact, you will improve the results of the treatment. All obesity treatments, to date, are palliative not curative. After six months of weight loss, the rate at which the weight is loss usually declines, and sometimes falls in a plateau. The maintenance program is based more on balance that on elimination and requires a lifetime habit. Successful weight maintenance is defined as a regain of weight that is < 6.6 lb (3 kg) in two years, and a sustained reduction in waist circumference of at least 1.6" (6 cm). If a patient wishes to lose more weight after a period of weight maintenance, the procedure for weight loss can be repeated. Any diet will fail if you simply misuse it as a tool for some quick and easy weight lose instead of adopting it to your own tastes as a lifetime diet plan.
