Why is adultery wrong?
My first answer would be because God said so. God does not give us laws to be cruel and keep us from doing what we want. He does it to keep us from hurting ourselves and others. Since you put this under spirituality, I’m assuming that is where you were going with this. It says in Matthew 19:5 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ When you are united like that, splitting up can be like tearing off a limb. It is that painful. Avoiding adultery isn’t about denying fun, its about avoiding that level of pain. Now, if you don’t believe in God, it still doesn’t take rocket science to see the wreckage of relationships around you, many of them caused by sex outside of marriage, whether premarital or extramarital. Christian or not, if you are a person of character, you aren’t going to hurt other people, and particularly your own children, in that way.
