What is Modern Forest Management?
The Forest was used before recorded history. After the arrival of the Europeans, commercial timber harvesting began about 1863. SDSF is zoned for timber production. Such land is devoted to growing and harvesting timber, as well as compatible activities. Those activities include watershed management, fish & wildlife habitat management, outdoor education, and recreation. Forest Management balances these diverse aspects.
