In order to insure that our employees understand the process, NISD Risk Management staff shall contact the injured worker to discuss the pending dispute. CMI Barron, our claims handlers, then files an official dispute with the TDI Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) with a copy to the employee. Even though a dispute has been submitted, the investigation continues and additional information from the employee and/or medical providers are considered. It is possible for the additional information obtained after the initial investigation to result in withdrawal or modification of the original dispute. An employee also is notified of their right to pursue an appeal with the TDI Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC). The local Division phone number is 593-0070.
