What is temptation?
Temptation is an enticement or solicitation to do evil James 1: 13. Temptation – Is from Satan purposely to cause a believer to sin and fail in faith. Test is from God purposely to strengthen a believer s faith. In short temptation is Satan s attack to the individual Christian/believer. TWO WAYS THAT SATAN USES TO ATTACK BELIEVERS The desires of the world *Satan tempts believers to become absorbed into the world s system. – I John 2:15 – James 4:4 2. The desires of the flesh *The desire of the flesh is the greatest enemy because it cannot honor God s laws. – Romans 8:5-9,13 – James 1:14 – Ephesians 2:13 EXAMPLE IN EVE S TEMPTATION Genesis 3:6 I John 2:16 – Good for food. – Lust of the flesh. – Pleasing to the eye. – Lust of the eyes. – Desirable for gaining wisdom – Pride of life.
