Does the Shangri-La Diet Work?
Disclaimer: Unlike some other writers on the ThirdAge website and blog, I am not a diet or nutrition expert. Just a gal looking to lose a few pounds. First of all, the Shangri-La diet it is not a diet – it’s an idea and practice for how to reset our set points. And it is really just one thing, one habit, that we can add to whatever diet we choose (preferably a healthy one). The blogosphere has been buzzing about Shangri-La and I have to admit I am intrigued. Kathy Sierra’s post yesterday was the tipping point for me. I went and got the book and have decided to try Shangri-La starting today. I won’t go into the science or rationale of the diet – here’s the website for Shangri-La creator and author, Seth Roberts. You can find lots of information there. Roberts’ approach is different and focused more on tastes than calories. The bottom line is this – there’s only one thing I need to do starting today. I need to consume either a few tablespoons of tasteless oil or a liter of sugar water. O
