What is an Increment?
An increment is the dollar value between steps on the salary guide. For example, if an employee is on step one during year one and step one is $20,000.00. The following year the employee would move to step two, which, lets say, is $22,250.00. The monetary value difference or increment between the steps is $2,250.00.
