What is zip / zipping?
The zip format allows you to store one or more computer files inside one file for easy shipment via email, or for storage (since the zip process compresses or squeezes all source files into the target file). There are two basic types of files that zipping can build: an ordinary compressed-content file with a .zip or .ZIP extension (which needs zip software to uncompress), and an exploding, self-expanding file with an .exe or .EXE extension (which only needs you to click on or open to operate). When you double-click on a self-exploding file, a program will ask you where you want to save the contents and will offer a default location. If you fail to change the location, make note of what it says! Otherwise, you will have to use Windows Explorer to find the most recently made folder(s) on your machine to locate the extracted contents.
