“Family members” are defined as child, spouse, domestic / civil union partner or parent (biological, foster, adoptive or legal guardian when employee was a child) of the covered individual. This is definition is substantially similar to the state unpaid (FLA) definition. Note, however, unlike FLA, FTD does not allow leave to care for parents-in-law.
