When is the best time to hunt wild boar?
Hunting for the challenge (and the meat) is very good all year round. Trophy boars have the best fur from November till April with an extra thick winter coat. Hunting is most challenging from July through to October in the thick natural cover (leaves, grass etc.). Snow makes tracking fun in the winter and it creates an atmosphere that truly fits the occasion. Many people like early spring while it’s still relatively cool and the leaves haven’t opened up on the trees yet so that the visual distances are slightly greater. Average shooting distance is about 20 – 40 yards due to the cover of the bush. There are no open fields for easy long distance shots.
