How does BSE spread?
There are several scientific hypotheses concerning the origin and transmission of BSE. The data suggests that BSE cases in the U.K. involve feed containing contaminated meat and bone meal protein sources. Cattle at Vossler Angus are fed a strictly vegetarian diet – eliminating this particular source of risk. Further, there is no evidence that BSE spreads horizontally, i.e., by contact between unrelated adult cattle or from cattle to other species.
