There is usually some discomfort associated with the beginning stages of tooth movement. After a few days, this discomfort diminishes and goes away. Mild discomfort may recur with subsequent adjustments or tightening of the appliance, but this becomes less and less noticeable as treatment progresses. An over-the-counter analgesic such as Advil or Tylenol usually takes care of any discomfort that may occur.

A little discomfort after placement and after adjustments is normal. Tylenol or Motrin will usually control the discomfort.
