How does the Smart-Reel system maintain control of a 2000 trailing cable which is subject to wind and weather conditions?

One end of the trailing cable is attached to the elevator car, moving with it at all times. There are Lock-Brackets mounted on the tower at intervals which capture/release the cable as the car passes. These brackets contain the cable and protect it from swinging around in the tower shaft any time the car is in use. In addition to the Lock-Brackets, the Smart-Reel system is constantly and automatically maintaining proper tension on the trailing control cable to ensure smooth operation.
