As the prescribing dentist you are responsible for both the quality of laboratory work and for paying their bills. Funding to pay these is included in your gross earnings for previous years. If you agree to carry out more laboratory based work in the future, perhaps by undertaking care for more edentulous patients, then the necessary extra funding would need to be agreed with the PCT.
