How does one start a banana tree?

0

I was given several small banana tree plants. I just sent them out in the yard and they just started multiplying. I’ve never tried to grow one in the house. They are tropical and I would think that they would grow better outside. They will die down in the winter. When the frost gets them just cut them back and in the spring they will come back. I have seen a banana tree at our Community College campus that actually put on small bananas. I don’t know how big the bananas got because I never did go back to see. I don’t really think you can start a banana tree from a banana because if you put the banana in water to try and root it, it will rot. Try locating one at your local plant nursery. They are nice planted around a patio…Looks tropical in the summertime. By the way I live in East Texas and it’s really humid here in the Summer and that is one reason they do well here….
