Where will the money come from?
Government Benefits: the maximum annual benefit from government pensions and Old Age Security is currently about $ 13,500. Other Sources: You should decide other known sources of income that you or your spouse will receive at retirement, such as income from a rental property, a home-based business, or a life insurance policy. At this point, do not include income you may be expecting from existing registered savings (RRSPs, Defined Contribution Pension Plans or Deferred Profit sharing plans).These savings will be included later in Step 6. The laptop initiative would be $1 match from the state for every $2 invested by a local school district. The program is optional. Governor Rounds is prepared to dedicate $13 million over a three-year period to fund the states portion of the cost. Funding would come from several sources, including $9 million in technology funds and $1 million in South Dakota Reads funds.
Funds for a project like this come from Transit New Zealand’s annual budget (this money comes from a mix of sources including tax, road user charges and fuel levies). In 2007, Transit had a surplus of $200 million – money the government allocated to improving our roads which wasn’t spent.Within Transit’s budget there is also a $3 million allocation for walking and cycling projects. Last year, none of this money was spent at all.The Auckland Regional Council also has money available for walking and cycling projects, funded through an existing 5 cent per litre fuel tax.
