When will the release of unpleasant odors be corrected at the (Lynn Lane) sewage treatment plant?
When the new plant is built and in operation about two years from now the design will have changed from an aeration basin to oxidation ditch and the digesters will be a new and better design. These changes will also help reduce odors. We have done several things to reduce the smells but there are basins full of raw sewage being treated each day that will smell like raw sewage. We have an odor control system that sprays a deodorizer over these basins and we have reduced the holding time for sludge that helped reduce odors.
