How does a FFA Member get on a judging team?

Some of our most popular CDE’s have traditionally been livestock, horse, and dairy judging. Advisors will let students know in class when practices are scheduled, and practice dates will also be posted at each high school. Students should talk to the advisors if they are interested in becoming involved. It is important to attend practices so students can learn more about judging, and also because we use practice scores to determine team members for district and state competition. Four students are then chosen to be on the official team. If your student is an underclassmen or is inexperienced in the field, they should not get discouraged if they do not make the teams their first year. Getting on teams is very competitive and it can take two or three years of practice to earn a position on a team.
