Does Yakima County sell compost?
The chipped yard waste is free for Yakima County residents and makes excellent feedstock for composting. The chipped yard waste is made up of grass clippings, branches, weeds and leaves. This product is technically not compost, it hasn’t been turned, watered and monitored for temperatures needed to kill weed seeds. Yakima County does sells wood waste material to the public for $10 per ton. The chipped wood waste is primarily from pallets and is mostly used to fuel machinery.
