What are SEC Fees?
SEC Fees, also known as Section 31 fees after that section in the Exchange Act of 1934, are assessed to support the activities of the SEC. They are charged on the sale of securities (with the exception of broad-based index options like the OEX) at the rate of $11.00 per million sold. This is a new rate in effect since January 25, 2008. They are passed through to customers from the clearing firm.
